If a game doesn’t offer something new and innovative, it’s liable to fail, and while Lone Ruin certainly manages to be a fun roguelike, it’s missing that killer USP.Ī twin-shooter with roguelike elements, Lone Ruin depicts players as a solo adventurer, who arrive at the hostile ruins of a city corrupted by magic millenia ago. Now, more than ever, it feels like there’s more roguelikes launching than ever before, which means that the competition for your attention is stiffer than ever. Wondering if the game would get mods, would be nice.If you had to single out one genre that’s grown more than any other in recent years, it would have to be the roguelike. Which i might, because my kill switch case should arrive soon, and only then would i let my kids see me play it. I would leave a review here, but i dont own it here, and dont intend to until they make many more updates and improvements to make it worth buying twice. I wish i could leave a review on the nintendo e-shop, but nintendo is dumb. I hope this developer continues to make this game even better. price was a little high, but for me was worth it. I enjoyed the visuals personally, and music.Ĥ. Spells are easy to understand, upgrade, and figure out.ģ. I havent been able to enjoy Hades and Gungeon or w/e because i haven't bothered to figure out how to start the game.Ģ. No weird shop at start, making me run around finding out how to start the game. Gravity spell is nice for this, but again, need more spells.ġ. It would make more sense if we had some earth spell that pushes things off the map though. And the whole falling off the map thing is kinda weird. The game got some of the little things done right. Many games require me to just adjust the controls. Then you add the fact that they make it you can swap spells EASILY for hotkeys makes SO much sense. BUT, games like this on the switch make a lot of sense. Which i reallllllly wished the other games released on switch as well. One of the reason is because of the switch release. I personally do like games like vampire survivor, brotato, and 10 mins to dawn or w/e. Feel like reviews ended pretty bad for this game, but i think its pretty good. I hope there are more spells to come though. I hate going back to main menu again and again, just let me restart! Its been annoying that i just randomly die in late stages due to not being able to clear the monsters.ĥ. There are monsters that are within range of the last bounce, or the first target, and its just not getting hit, The bounces do seem like its a straight line bases, but i've also seen times it would bounce pretty far to the side randomly, so i have no idea. I had 10 bounces, and late game, i'm hitting like 3-5. It gets soo annoying seeing monsters beside the target, NOT get hit. It gets MUCH more anoying in late stage of the game, but the bounces just doesn't hit everything. However, i want to be able to keep playing until my cpu melts away.Ĥ. Need Endless Mode: i really like the fact that the game doesn't just make monsters harder and harder to kill. Story: there are some game braking spots, like, blizzard on a boss that can't move.ģ. Survival Mode: start with ANY spell, makes it easier trying to go through all spells and beating it.Ģ. I do hope there are a few updates to this that are free, then maybe 1-2 DLC's.ġ. However, after about around 20 hours of game time in this, i've already beaten it many ways, as well as on the switch, topped out on the leaderboards. dont want kids to know i got the steam deck. i picked it up on switch, mostly so i can play it in the open without my kids swarming me.
